Tour Description

Day 1 - Great Ocean Road (Morning tea and lunch provided)

Visit an iconic surfing beach and watch some of its best in action, then head off for the obligatory selfie at the iconic Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, followed by strolling along some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, where you can take in views from spectacular lookouts. Enjoy the peaceful vibe of the beautiful villages of Lorne and Anglesea to really get you into the holiday mood. We then move to try and get a glimpse of wild koalas and the other wildlife; find yourself surrounded by colourful aviary such as lorikeets, parrots and, of course, the kookaburra. After a busy morning, stop off at Apollo Bay to enjoy your fresh sandwich lunch! Otway’s Rainforest is next, where you'll partake in a guided tour through this historic rainforest, which is home to some of the world's tallest trees.

Then view the striking limestone stacks that are the iconic 12 Apostles. If weather permits, you could opt to splash out $145 on a helicopter flight, to give you a bird's eye view of the stunning structures. At Loch Ard Gorge you'll find towering cliffs, a magical blue-green sea and a lovely expanse of sandy beach to while away a few hours to your heart's content. Although London Bridge has, quite literally, now fallen down, it's still worth a photo or two. To close out day one, you'll experience an overnight stay in accommodation provided at Warrnambool Beach Backpackers, situated right next to the beach.

Day 2 – Warrnambool and the Grampians National Park (Breakfast and Dinner provided)

If you’re an early bird you can take the opportunity to go cycling, fishing or surfing by using the free equipment provided by the hostel. If you're on the tour with us in winter (lucky you!), you'll be given the chance to go whale watching at Logan's Beach. This is a chance to make memories that will last for a lifetime!

After you've been wowed by the whales, we pay a visit to Tower Hill, which is actually the first National Park in the state of Victoria. The land, which was originally home to the Aboriginal Koroitgundidj tribe, is home to an extinct volcano, and its rich, abundant soils play host to a range of exciting and colourful wildlife, including iconic Australian animals such as emus, kangaroos, koalas and echidnas.

At Mount Rouse, walk to the very top of this extinct volcano, reported to be over 2 million years old, and enjoy spectacular views of lava fields and surrounding landscape. Then spend some time in Halls Gap, right in the middle of the Grampians National Park. At Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre we'll hear the story of two Aboriginal tribes, and then you'll be given the option of walking the amazing Chataqua Peak or trying out the challenging Pinnacle Trail. End the day by sampling a traditional Australian barbecue for dinner, then bed down for the night at Brambuk Hostel at the heart of the Grampians.

Day 3 - The Grampians National Park (Breakfast included)

On the final day of the tour, we'll have a look around Grampians National Park, host to a wonderland of native Aussie wildlife, as well as an abundant array of plant life. Visit McKenzie, Clematis or Silverband falls and enjoy the cascading torrents of water and fresh mountain air. Walk along a classic Aussie bush track to experience the ‘Jaws of Death’ - a bunch of sandstone rocks precariously sat atop the mountain. Cap off the trip with a couple of pints at a traditional Aussie pub (own expense). Cheers!
