Tour Description

Departing from B Shed, Victoria Quay, Fremantle at around 9:30 am, or earlier from your Fremantle accommodation, you’ll board the ferry and journey over to Rottnest Island. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a calm, smooth ride, as these vessels have been specifically designed for the mainland to Rottnest ocean conditions.

Once you arrive on the island, you’ll have the option to hire a bicycle (add-on in booking form), but you can certainly explore the island by foot, if you prefer. Before your snorkelling adventure, you’ll have plenty of free time to look around at the island’s gorgeous natural and man-made features, such as the Salt Store, the Museum, the Basin, Thompson Bay and a few of Rottnest’s 63 beaches and 20 bays.

Then, at 1:45 pm, you’ll return to the main jetty for your snorkelling safety and technique briefing. Next, you can get your snorkelling gear on and jump into the clear turquoise water to experience the sub-aqua wonderland that has made this island such a boon for divers. There is such a diverse range of sea-life at ‘Rottie’ and you’re likely to see plenty of Silver Drummer fish, Western Buffalo Bream, Scalyfin, Western King Wrasse, Red-lipped morwong, Black-Spot Goatfish, Footballer Sweep, Banded Sweep, Stripeys, Moon Wrasse, Scissortail Sergeant fish, Dusky Morwongs, Convict Surgeonfish, Wobbegongs and more!

Your included snorkelling equipment is only available for the 90minute duration of your snorkel cruise, however if you wish to continue snorkelling through the day, you can hire snorkel gear for use all day. The island has designated snorkel trails, with underwater plaques that mark the way so you have the best chance of snorkelling the prime areas. Visibility is excellent and the plethora of coral reefs and shipwrecks make for interesting dive locations. To learn a little bit about the sea life and other factors influencing your dive experience, it’s a good idea to pick up the snorkelling guide from the island’s Visitor Information Centre.

After you’ve experienced the wonder of Rottnest Island’s amazing marine animals, you’ll meet again at the jetty for your trip back to the mainland. Arriving at Fremantle at around 5.45 pm, your tour will conclude if you departed from here, or you’ll be taken back to your accommodation.
